The Greenbrier 4-H club met at Landus Co-op on Monday, Feb. 10.
Conner Allender of the Young Leaders reported their group was doing chocolate covered strawberries for Valentine’s Day as a fundraiser. The Young Leaders would be preparing them during the week and pick-up would be Feb. 13 and 14 at the Greene County Extension office.
A thank you was written to the Extension Office for the pizza party they provided the Greenbrier club for their herdsmanship win at the county fair.
Club members were reminded about the YQCA training to be done before showing animals at the fair. It is to be done online, or at one meeting at the extension office, Tuesday, March 3, 6 – 7 pm. If done online each 4-H member must email Kayla a copy of their certificate of completion to be put on file.
Swine weigh-in will be Saturday, March 7, from 9 – 10 am. Swine participants must attend one project meeting in order to show at the fair. One of these meetings will be Feb. 16 at 5:30 pm at the Extension Office.
The Community Lamb Barn project’s registrations are available Feb. 15. If you lack the facilities, financing, or an adult to help you, this could be the project for you. Registrations are available at the Extension office and are due April 15.
Camp Wild, a 4-H summer camp, will be June 4-6 at Guthrie Grove Retreat Center in Guthrie Center. This is for grades 5, 6, and 7. Conner Allender reported that she had attended the camp before and it was an excellent experience.
Plans were made for Greenbrier’s annual basketball tournament. That will take place on Sunday, March 15, at the Scranton gym. Clubs will be notified of their game times and refreshments will be available.
Greenbrier’s next meeting will be March 9, 7 pm at Landus Co-op.
